Earth-Minded Fashion

What is Earth-Minded, Responsible Fashion?

We are on a mission for change. Change within ourselves, change for our loved ones, change for our planet. We see everyday how imperfect our efforts are, yet humbly we must start where we can.

So what does Earth-Minded, Responsible Fashion mean to Onepaʻa Hawaiʻi?

HE ALIʻI KA ʻĀINA. HE KAUWĀ KE KANAKA.

IT IS HONEST

and transparent, knowing there is always room for improvement and innovation.

IT IS EQUALITY-CENTERED

thinking of how our purchasing decisions will impact others as we deeply believe in the spirits of all things living on our poepoe honua. We recognize the rights not only of humans but of the seas, the trees, the soils, corals, whales, birds, butterflies and bees...

IT IS DIVERSE

The paths are many. Producing a product goes through numerous phases. Though complete "sustainability" at every stage of production is highly unlikely there is MUCH needed improvement across the industry as a whole. Clear communication and supporting the efforts of others is essential.

IT IS NOT PERFECT

Unless completely redefined, consumerism at its core is unsustainable. The culture of fashion has completely outpaced both demand and need. We must begin to adjust our habits to buying less, buying better, shopping small, sharing, and using what we have for longer.

IT IS NOT EXCLUSIVE

We believe in never claiming to be the "only ones" who practice earth-minded habits. It will take the whole world working together and supporting each other to achieve the change we desperately need.

IT IS NOT ABSOLUTE

Greenwashing is becoming highly prevalent as consumers demand better. Everything we make, takes. Whenever possible, be makaʻala (aware) to those who speak too loudly - as if their products have zero affect on earth. Your mind is your best tool and profits are often, their weakness.

Mahalo.
