Look to the south eastern horizon after dark during the spring + early summer months to see the rise of some of our brightest summer stars: Manaiakalani is referred to by Johnson, Mahelona and Ruggles, as the extension of Mauiʻs fish hook, Ka Makau Nui o Maui. Also referred to as the "Chiefʻs fishline.” Legend tells of Maui harnessing its magical capabilities to fish up islands across Oceania.
